THINKING BEYOND WAR IN AFGHANISTAN: UPDATES FOR CONGRESS

Monday, July 29thUnited States Institute for Peace (USIP) and Partnership for a Secure America (PSA) hosted an off-the-record lunch briefing on the Hill to discuss the current status of the peace process in Afghanistan in light of the upcoming elections. Regional experts Laurel Miller, Program Director for Asia at the International Crisis Group, and Scott Worden, Director of Afghanistan and Central Asia Programs at USIP, provided context and facilitated a lively discussion while Michael V. Phelan, Senior Advisor of Africa and Asia Programs at USIP, moderated. A bipartisan and bicameral group of about 50 congressional staff attended the briefing.
