MAJOR SHIFTS IN ETHIOPIA: WHAT IT MEANS FOR AMERICA & THE WORLD

On March 25th, United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and Partnership for a Secure America (PSA) held an off-the-record lunch briefing to discuss “Major Shifts in Ethiopia: What It Means for America & the World.” Regional experts Susan Stigant, USIP’s Director of Africa Programs, and Maj. General Christopher Leins, former Deputy Commander of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, provided a situation report on the historic and unprecedented political transition underway in Ethiopia.  As a key power center in the Horn of Africa and critical U.S. security partner, Ethiopia’s trajectory will significantly impact core U.S. priorities, including conflict resolution, global trade, migration, and counter-terrorism.
