Tara Sonenshine, PSA Board of Directors Member, is confirmed as New Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy

WASHINGTON – Today, Partnership for a Secure America congratulates Tara
Sonenshine following her confirmation yesterday evening by the U.S. Senate as Under
Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy. In taking on this role, she has announced her resignation from the PSA
Board of Directors.
Ms. Sonenshine has been Executive Vice President of the
United States Institute for Peace. Prior
to her work with USIP, Tara served in various White House capacities, including
transition director for the National Security Council (NSC), special assistant
to President Clinton and deputy director of communications for the NSC
(1994-1995). Tara brings unique
qualifications to her upcoming position having also worked as a journalist for
both ABC News and Newsweek Magazine.
