The Hard Path Forward: Bipartisan Debate on Afghanistan

On November 18, 2009, PSA Executive Director Matthew Rojansky participated in the first debate on Afghanistan co-sponsored by the DC Democratic and Republican parties. The debate focused on whether the Obama Administration should commit additional US combat forces to Afghanistan, acceding to a recommendation and request from commanding General Stanley McChrystal. In addition to Rojansky, the contributors were Dr. Assem Akram, Professor, American University, School Of International Service; Malou Innocent, the Cato Institute (standing in for Michael Darner from Rep. Conyers’ office, a PSA Congressional Fellow); and Mackenzie Eaglen, Research Fellow, Heritage Foundation.

The debate was held at the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia.
